Amber 2 VST Plugin

Amber 2 VST plugin by Ujam is a premium acoustic guitar virtual instrument which can be used as a single guitar or preloaded with sampled phrases (strums) and extra style phrases, achieving either chords or acoustic guitar singular mode for single notes. Making this quite an advanced acoustic guitar virtual instrument.

This plugin was designed to sound realistic with advanced signal processing which delivers high-quality built-in finisher effects and comes packed with building presets, strumming styles (phrase presets) and also styled presets which can be triggered by the MIDI controller keyboard.

It's hard to explain in written words, but basically, the music producer would use 2 hands on the MIDI keyboard, playing the chords or singular notes with the right hand, whilst triggering certain strumming patterns with the left hand, changing the strumming style or additionally adding realistic acoustic guitar noises such as guitar mutes, guitar slides on string sound effects and similar styles like that. That's the easiest way to explain it without being too complex.

Amber 2 VST Plugin Main Features

- Comes with a built-in mic option which can change the character of the signal output, making it softer or harsher (darker); this can also be edited with the mic and pickup blending options.
- Character modulation consists of 4 different modules: soft, tame, real and hard.
- This plugin comes with mixed modulations.
- Air modulations which range from 0 to 100.
- Width, which can be turned on and off. (This enables the double guitar mode.)
- Focus modulations. (This feature turns the sound signal output from bright to dark).
- Built-in Finisher FX, which comes with different presets.
- Chords mode, which is set up to be either chords or single notes.

This plugin will work on Windows and macOS and supports VST2 (VST plugin but gen 2, which is newer than the gen 1 VSTi), VST3, AAX and AU 2 (Audio Unit 2).

This plugin may take a little longer to get used to. When it comes to ease of use, this plugin gets a solid 6 out of 10, mainly because it contains some complicated features which will take any music producers some time to get used to, but overall it's a standard VST plugin with not overly hard-to-understand UI or modulations. So we rate this on the advanced level, but also remember that it is not overly hard to use or to understand. Also, if the end-user understands the standard fundamentals of VST modulations and their usage, this plugin will be very easy to use.

VST Performance

This guitar has been designed to deliver acoustic guitar strumming loops, either singular notes or within a chord style, and this plugin does this very well. The performance of this VST is great, but it seems to use quite a lot of RAM (around 3/4 GB) when being used inside a DAW. The plugin could have been a little bit more friendly to the CPU, but then again, this plugin is fully professional, and the sound buffering and processing tell a whole different story: the overall sound quality is highly professional.

This plugin has been priced quite well for what you get; the plugin is highly professional, and the acoustic guitar sounds are fantastic, so it's not priced on the cheaper side or the expensive side – it's standard and reasonable pricing. We give this a solid 6 out of 10.
