Scoring Guitar VST is a plugin designed for the NI Kontakt VST plugin. Yes, you will need to install the NI Kontakt player to use this plugin. This will need to be Kontakt 5 (Player) or higher for this VST plugin to work. Also, here is a list of legacy free Kontakt players, in case anyone requires older versions.

Scoring Guitars, designed and developed by Heavyocity, is an exceptional virtual guitar instrument which has some amazing and cinematic-style guitar sound outputs, packed with loads of guitar melodic loops and samples, which can easily be dragged and dropped onto the plugin itself within its preset browser straight into the plugin itself.

This plugin has been designed for cinema, meaning it is mainly aimed at sound designers who are looking to add score to film and TV, but some of these instruments, loops and samples within this virtual instrument could be used for modern music production, as well as some very smooth cinematic intros and outros within modern music compositions.

This plugin mainly comes with A minor and E minor-based samples, but these can be pitch-modified to certain key scales within the modulation supplied within the VST plugin itself.

- Built-in reverb, chorus, delays and distortion effects modulation, which are nicely layered on the main visual screen of the plugin.
- EQ and filter modulation screen, which comes with advanced filters and EQ modulation.
- TFX section which modulates distortion, lofi, filter, panner and delay; each effect comes with its own set of modulations, including pitch and pan effects along with step selection for syncing.
- Built-in ADSR settings.
- Switch between mix, pitch, punish and twist modulation, which are located in the middle of the VST plugins screen; each can be edited and selected separately for any presets which support such settings. Some of the presets come with different unique modulations, such as samples if a sampled preset has been loaded.
- Motions can be programmed and triggered using the MIDI piano.

VST Ease of Use

The GUI layout is very busy with many options and features; it will definitely take some time to get used to this plugin. This is not a plugin you simply purchase, download and know exactly what you're doing after installing it, as the main plugin screen is loaded with so many modulations. We would recommend all sound designers and producers to use this plugin for at least 1 hour to get used to it and understand how it operates. This is not a bad thing; this plugin is highly advanced!

VST Performance

8/10

This plugin has been designed for cinematic score design, and this plugin does it very well, mainly loaded with guitar phrases and guitar samples which can be pitch modified to meet the user's key-scale requirements. The guitar pads within this plugin are a bonus, as some of these sounds are simply amazing, and they can also be layered. This plugin performs great but will require NI Kontakt Player.
